Welcome to the Texas iSchool! Graduate Orientation provides an opportunity to meet faculty, staff, advisors, and fellow students while learning about academic resources, career services, and support programs available throughout your graduate experience. Lunch provided.

Kick off your iSchool experience with an evening of food, drinks, games, and community! Enjoy tacos and special UT/iSchool-themed dirty sodas and lemonades, take a photo at our photo booth, and challenge your new classmates to a game of cornhole or Connect Four. Come hang out, meet fellow iSchool students, and get ready for the university-wide Gone to Texas celebration!

Informatics students learn the skills and knowledge required to collect, manage and analyze data and information, and prepare for the great ethical responsibility that comes with these societally transformative roles.

In a series of recent papers, we study LLM knowledge of the laws and create new datasets to improve it. The results are surprising. I am omitting details from the abstract, so come to the talk to learn more (or how to spend 1.5 million tokens answering 500 yes/no questions). In addition to this, I will touch upon past work of in-domain LLM evaluation, genAI detection, studying communications of the Fed, and the board game of Diplomacy.

The year's Spring Capstone Poster Showcase is a celebration of 175 iSchool students and their capstone work. Food and refreshments will be served and the event is open to all students, faculty, and the community.

Please join us for the second annual Archives Project Showcase on Friday, 4/17, in UTA 5.522.  The showcase will highlight student work in UT and regional archives, as well as exceptional and unique independent study, volunteer work, and class projects.  An 11 AM pre-session is for presenters and students only.  The 12 PM session (with pizza!) is open to all. 

Join the School of Information as we celebrate our students recognized as College Scholars and Distinguished College Scholars at UT Austin’s 78th Annual Honors Day ceremony. This university-wide event honors exceptional academic achievement and will take place at the Moody Center on Friday, March 27th at 4:00 p.m.
