Three iSchool professors win grant from Center for Identity to study patient portals

Three University of Texas School of Information professors spent summer 2015 conducting research to more fully understand the role of human values in the use of patient portals and how this information can better help older adults and beyond.

Doc student has paper accepted at CHI Conference

Jane Gruning, PhD student in the iSchool has her co-authored paper, "Things We Own Together: Sharing Possessions at Home,” accepted at the annual ACM SIG CHI conference, the most prestigious conference for research in human-computer interaction, with acceptance rates usually running around 25%.

Jacek Gwizdka Receives Google Research Award

Sept. 12, 2014

Jacek Gwizdka, Assistant Professor in the School of Information and co-Director of the Information eXperience Lab at University of Texas at Austin, and Dania Bilal, a Professor in the iSchool of Information Sciences at University of Tennessee, and have received a $41,363 Google Research Award for a project titled "Child-friendly search engine results pages (SERPs): Towards better understanding of Google search results readability by children." In this project, Drs. Bilal and Gwizdka will investigate how children read and assess the reading levels of Google's search results pages (SERPs).

Randolph has been off on a Faculty Research Assignment at the Florida Institute for Human & Machine Cognition (IHMC). With his time there about up, we asked him to share with us how his experience has been.

Sam Burns: So, what have you been doing in Pensacola, mostly just fishing and sunbathing?

Ciaran Trace and Luis Francisco-Revilla Introduce The Augmented Processing Table

The Augmented Processing Table project (APT) is an ongoing collaborative project between iSchool faculty in the field of Human Computer Interaction (Dr. Luis Francisco-Revilla) and Archival Science (Ciaran B. Trace). APT investigates how interactive technologies can augment current archival work practices, and create new and improved ways to interact with archival materials online.
