iSchool Graduation Ceremony

We’re pleased to announce that the iSchool 2023 Graduation Ceremony will be held in-person, Friday, May 5, 2:00 – 4:00pm at the LBJ Auditorium (inside the LBJ School of Public Affairs Building), followed by a reception in the upstairs lobby and breezeway with light refreshments and live entertainment.

Graduates are encouraged to attend the University-Wide Commencement Ceremony, happening May 6 at the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

We cordially invite faculty, staff, and guests to come join us in celebrating our graduates! A short reception in the upstairs lobby and breezeway with light refreshments and live entertainment will follow. 

Free parking is available in lots 37, 38 & 39 (First-come, first served). Closest parking garage: Manor Rd. Garage (MAG) – All garages open during Commencement weekend.

Graduation FAQs

Will people need tickets to the iSchool Graduation?

No, tickets are not required. There will be seating sections marked out for undergraduate and graduate students. Families and loved ones will be in general seating.

Is there a guest limit?

For the ceremony and reception: There is not a set guest limit per graduates. Any supporters of our graduates are welcome to attend.

Where do we park?

Parking at the LBJ Auditorium is free on May 5 in lots 37 and 39 and all garages will be open. The closest garage is Manor Rd. Garage.

What time and where is the reception?

The reception will follow directly after our Graduation Ceremony (around 4:00pm) in the upstairs lobby and adjacent outdoor breezeway of the LBJ School of Public Affairs building.

What food/drinks will be served?

The reception will feature a variety of light appetizers (including gluten-free and vegan options), desserts, a non-alcoholic beverage service (tea, juice, and water), and champagne (for attendees 21 and over).

I am an international student and I want my family to attend graduation. How can I do this?

Please see this information from the International Student and Scholar Services office on inviting your family to visit. Please note that you will need to know all of the date(s) for the ceremonies you intend to participate in. (iSchool, University-wide Commencement, and/or Affinity Commencements).

The University of Texas at Austin Commencement Ceremony

Saturday, May 6 | Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium
Speaker: Hayes Barnard, American entrepreneur, business owner, and philanthropist

The university-wide Commencement for the Class of 2023 will be held in the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium (DKR). Tickets will be required for graduates and their guests. The university-wide commencement ceremony will also be broadcast live on the web with video streaming.
