A certificate of Endorsement of Specialization formally recognizes that a student has created a program of concentrated study within the basic 36 semester credit hours required of the Master of Science in Information Studies. The MSIS curriculum offers any number of options for students to craft a concentration or specialization once they have completed their required courses.
Suggested Areas of Study
You can choose your concentration to be any one of the following:
|
|
Application & Curriculum Requirements
- Candidate must be an enrolled iSchool MSIS student
- Complete EOS Proposal
- Plan and complete (12) semester credit hours of cohesive study centered on desired specialization. Lower-division courses cannot be applied.
- Program must be approved by individual faculty advisor.
- Submit EOS Completion Form in the last two weeks of the student's final semester
Temporary Revisions to the EOS – Spring 2025
Our iSchool Office is updating the EOS Forms. Please monitor your Canvas announcements for updates in early April. In the meantime, you can start conversations with your Subject Advisor about what four potential classes you would like to house under your EOS title. Please see the suggested areas of study or discuss further similar themes in your classes that may be suitable for your Endorsement.
As a reminder, you may claim up to two EOS with four different classes in your elective space for each EOS. This would be with your elective space, not the core requirements of INF 380E Perspectives or Capstone.
Subject Advisor Information
- Libraries – David Lankes
- Archives/Preservation – Sarah Norris
- Data Science/Data Analysis – Shounak Roychowdhury
- UX Design – John Neumann
- UX Research – Jacek Gwizdka
- General and Interdisciplinary Information Studies – Mick McQuaid
If you have two EOS that are over different areas, you may wish to consult two subject advisors.
