
Assistant Professor
Jiaxin Pei is an incoming Assistant Professor in the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin, starting from Fall 2026. He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI), where he is affiliated with the Stanford Digital Economy Lab and the Stanford NLP group. He got his PhD from the School of Information at the University of Michigan.
Jiaxin's main research areas are Large Language Models, Human-Computer Interaction, and Computational Social Science. Currently, he is interested in building user-centric agentic AI systems, creating deliberative platforms for civil engagement at scale and understanding the impact of AI on humans and society.
