Assistant Professor

Chan Park is an assistant professor at UT Austin Information school starting her position in Fall 2026. Her research focuses on making AI technologies better at understanding social context of language and building adaptable and personalized LLMs.  Before joining UT, she is taking a gap year and currently at Microsoft Research as a postdoctoral researcher in the AI Interaction and Learning team. Previously, she was a postdoc working with Yejin Choi at the University of Washington. She received her PhD from Language Technologies Institute in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University advised by Yulia Tsvetkov.

Her work has been recognized in top conferences and journals, including PNAS, ACL, and ICLR, and has been featured in various media outlets such as MIT Tech Review and The Washington Post. She has received several notable awards, including the ACL Best Paper Award and the Wikimedia Research Award of the Year. She was also named a University of Chicago Rising Star in Data Science and is a recipient of the K&L Gates Presidential Fellowship.
