Our faculty are passionate scholars exploring solutions to some of our society’s grand challenges. This panel event spotlights some iSchool faculty's work in the spaces of archival science, artificial intelligence, health, and social computing. Students will learn about how faculty ask questions, share knowledge and move beyond academic barriers to better address ‘wicked problems’ in these areas. This event is moderated by Dr. Ahmer Arif and panelists include:
- Dr. Bo Xie — Aging, eHealth, and COVID-19
- Dr. Ciaran B. Trace — Grand Challenges in Archival Science
- Dr. Matthew Lease —Three Key Challenges for Moderating Social Media: Accuracy, Scalability, and Safety
- Dr. Min Kyung Lee — Does AI really help people?
Each panelist will present their work for 12-15 minutes, followed by an open Q&A session. Students attending the event will learn about the opportunities they have to help change the world.
