Archives Showcase 2025

Please join us for the second annual Archives Project Showcase on Friday, 4/17, in UTA 5.522.  The showcase will highlight student work in UT and regional archives, as well as exceptional and unique independent study, volunteer work, and class projects.  An 11 AM pre-session is for presenters and students only.  The 12 PM session (with pizza!) is open to all.

12 PM: Student presenters will give lightning-round-style talks highlighting their projects for a professional audience.  Faculty, staff, project supervisors, and local archivists are invited to learn about the exciting work our students are doing!  Students, gain valuable experience presenting your work for job interviews!  Pizza will be served!

11 AM: Pre-session workshop: presenters and students only!  This is an archives community-building session in which we’ll talk through successes and challenges in our archives work projects.  In this informal forum, we’ll share perspective with colleagues about:

  • Things it’s OK not to know (and how you deal with them)
  • Novel situations and your solutions (even if they didn’t work – please educate us all!)
  • Workflows and deadlines
  • Preservation project challenges (like the bat we found during environmental monitoring in Preservation Science and Practice.)
  • Effective presentation and communication strategies
  • And so much more!

Students, please consider presenting in this event and showcasing our rich archives culture here at the iSchool.  We’d love to hear about your student work on campus or off; or any recent archives project work you’re proud of.  Exceptional or unique course projects and volunteer work are welcome.  Please contact sarah.norris@ischool.utexas.edu with slides, questions, or last-minute proposals.
