Catalog Description

Overview of public health and the information systems used to achieve public health goals. This course is divided into three parts: (1) overview of public health, (2) fundamentals of public health informatics, and (3) public health information systems.

Prerequisites

Upper-division standing and Informatics 310M.

Restrictions

Informatics majors will have top registration priority through the early periods of registration. Informatics minors are encouraged to join the waitlist, which will begin promoting students on December 12 if seats remain available. All other students will need to complete this Registration Support Questionnaire in order to request a seat in any of our classes.

Notes

Introduction to Public Health Informatics (I320M) provides students with an overview of public health and the information systems used to achieve public health goals (i.e., prevent disease, promote health, and prolong life among the population as a whole). This course is divided into three parts: (1) overview of public health, (2) fundamentals of public health informatics, and (3) public health information systems.
