Chelsea studies urban decision making specifically related to the influence of city residents' lived experience, imaginaries, and actions. She is also a GRA on the Smart Hand Tools project for Good Systems, a UT Grand Challenge dedicated to the ethical design and application of AI. She is an NRT NSF Fellow in the Ethical AI Portfolio Program. Chelsea is advised by Prof. Ken Fleischmann. Chelsea also serves as the Editor-at-Large for Smart Cities Connect, a bi-annual smart cities conference. Prior to joining the iSchool, Chelsea worked in the area of smart cities and founded Digi.City, a forum to explore how smart cities can serve the social good. She is a University of Manchester (UK) Simon Industrial & Professional Fellow (2019), a Marshall Memorial Fellow (2018) and an Eisenhower Fellow (2016).
