MLIS
Research Attorney at Jackson Walker LLP

"My MLIS helps with the library management side of my job, and has given me a broader idea of research resources beyond the legal research realm."
I am in charge of the day to day operations for the library in the Houston office of Jackson Walker. I also assist with library management for all of our offices, working with our Chief Knowledge Services Officer. I perform research for attorneys, paralegals, and staff, working on a variety of cases and projects. In addition, I am in charge of our continuing education programs, including obtaining credit from bar associations, state agencies, and HR organizations, and ensuring that the attendance is accurately and timely reported. My MLIS helps with the library management side of my job, and has given me a broader idea of research resources beyond the legal research realm. Having a JD helps as well, both because it changed my title from Librarian to Research Attorney, which makes it easier to bill clients for time spent on research, but also because it gives me credit with the attorneys and paralegals. There is no typical day, I work on whatever projects come in, and it varies from a quick public records pull, to complex legal research.
