I decided to pursue my masters degree in the School of Information at UT Austin because I wanted to enhance my professional skills. The iSchool provides students with fruitful resources. The requirement of courses taken was flexible for me to explore what I'm interested in and helped me broaden my potential career paths, such as database architecture, statistical analysis, and data analytics. While I was in the iSchool, I decided to be a research assistant under a professor, which definitely polished my professional skills and helped me learn how to conduct research and utilize my skills in academics. In addition, there were a lot of networking events held to help students have a smoother job hunting process. The Career Development Office in the iSchool helped me a lot, including perfecting a resume, salary negotiation, and mock interviews. Overall speaking, the courses provided by the iSchool enables you to explore what you are interested in, what potential professional skills you can develop, and enjoy a connected network with alumni, faculty, and staff.
