Developing a Controlled Vocabulary for the Digital Online Repository of the Outreach Department at the Texas School for the Blind & Visually Impaired

I created a controlled vocabulary of more than 400 terms for over 3,000 objects in the digital online repository at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The controlled vocabulary will enable staff to search for detailed information when creating training materials about individuals who are blind/ visually impaired as well as the general field of blindness and visual impairment to share with clients, families, colleagues and legislators. I also identified approximately 500 objects from the collection to weed based on an absence of media releases, individuals who were not allowed to appear in media being present in the media, poor quality of data and redundancy of content.
