Daisy Waters is Senior Assistant Librarian at the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNYAB), where she joined the library faculty in 2001. She received both her B.A. in Business Administration in 1982 and M.L.S. in 2001 from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNYAB).

Daisy's professional career began in the private sector with over twenty years as a Customer Service Representative at the Carborundum Company before making a career change to the library field. Daisy's primary research interests are:

  1. American Library Association Spectrum Initiative Scholarship program

In December 2002, she was invited to join a five-member Spectrum Initiative Longitudinal Study team for the American Library Association. A 1999 Spectrum scholarship recipient, Daisy seeks to learn about the effect of this program on her life and lives of present and future scholars. This research and its analysis will enable her to better promote the program to potential librarians and make a scholarly contribution to the library field in general.

  2. Evaluate the impact of copyright on electronic scholarly serials

  3. Collection development: analyze and compare major Black Studies databases

  4. Recruitment of librarians to the field - especially those from underrepresented groups. Daisy is currently developing an article on recruiting librarians for technical services for submission to Library Resources and Technical Services.

Daisy is a member of several professional library associations and actively involved on library committees. In addition, she has assumed active leadership positions in Zonta International Club of Niagara Falls, NY (Worldwide Service Organization of Women and Men on a local, area and district level).
