Cynthia Tysick is Senior Assistant Librarian at the University at Buffalo, where she joined the faculty in 2001. She received a MLS from the University at Buffalo. She is a contributing author for Best Books for Academic Libraries, Volume 10 (Temecula, CA: Best Books, 2004) and Biographical Dictionary of Social and Cultural Anthropology (New York: Routledge, 2004). Her research in librarianship revolves around diversity, tenure, and library instruction. She is currently working on a dictionary of social theories. She has recently begun working with Dr. Christopher Brown-Syed from the University at Buffalo's School of Informatics to create a catalogue, acquisitions database, and circulation capabilities for a small library in the university's Classics Department using open source, library automation software called Koha. Cynthia is an active member of the Asian, African, and Middle Eastern Section (AAMES) of ACRL and chair of the North Tonawanda Historical Museum research committee.
