Grubesic is a professor in the School of Information at the University of Texas - Austin, where he also serves as Associate Dean for Research and directs the Geoinformatics & Policy Analytics Laboratory (GPAL). Grubesic is an FAA certified commercial drone pilot. Author of over 160 publications, his research interests explore the intersections of infrastructure systems with the social and environmental sciences. Over the past five years, his research teams attracted nearly $10 million in external funding from both government and industry. Grubesic currently serves as Editor-in-Chief for Computers, Environment & Urban Systems and Telematics & Informatics. He is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Regional Science Review.
