BioBesides his role as adjunct faculty for Geographic Information Systems in the Information School, Dr. David Arctur is a Research Fellow in the Jackson School of Geosciences (http://www.jsg.utexas.edu/researcher/david_arctur/) , and Research Scientist in the Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering (http://www.caee.utexas.edu/) dept of the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He was previously Director of Interoperability Programs at the Open Geospatial Consortium (http://www.opengeospatial.org) , and a member of technical staff for Esri (https://www.esri.com) GIS software company. His focus of interest is in interoperability and preservation of complex, heterogeneous data and models for geosciences research. Dr. Arctur is a Life Member of IEEE, AGU and EGU.
Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Florida; BS and MS degrees in the field of electrical power systems from the University of Texas at Austin
