The Career Development Office is here to help with all your careers-related needs during your time at the iSchool. Whether it is help with finding internships, securing capstone opportunities, or applying for full or part time positions, we are here to support you and help you navigate your career journey.

Career Consultations

We strongly encourage incoming students to schedule an appointment to meet with the Director of Career Development at least once during their first semester. Connecting with the Career Development Office early in the program is essential in order to start taking the necessary steps towards career goals.

To make an appointment, please visit our online scheduling tool. Appointments are generally one hour of individualized face-to-face advising where any career-related topics may be discussed. We look forward to meeting you!

Careers Newsletter

All incoming students will be automatically registered to receive weekly email newsletters from the iSchool’s Career Development Office (msis-career or docis-career lists). You will have the ability to unsubscribe.

*If you are not receiving emails, please let us know. You may also need to manually add yourself to pertinent listservs like "msis-career" or "the-insider" by visiting UT Lists.

You will be given access to the iCareers system before the start of semester. iCareers is our career management system which allows students to search for jobs, internships, and capstones. Students can also connect with employers and alumni, RSVP for career events, and access all career-related handouts in the Career Resource Library.

Career Events

All career workshops, information sessions, and employer events such as career panels and networking opportunities are uploaded in iCareers at the beginning of each semester. We ask students to please register for our events through iCareers. You will receive a separate email with information about how to access your iCareers account.

*If you do not receive this email, please check your spam/junk folder for a message with the subject line "Welcome to iCareers - UT School of Information Job & Internship Board". You need that email to log into the iCareers Student Portal.

We look forward to welcoming you to the iSchool and assisting you with your career development needs! If you have any questions prior to your arrival, please contact us at or call (512) 471-8806.
