2019 Texas iSchool Graduates, Masters of Information Go Forth

On Saturday, May 25, The University of Texas at AustinSchool of Information graduate candidates and their guests filled the Grand Ballroom at the ATT Conference Center to celebrate a huge milestone. Anticipation filled the room as iSchool students eagerly waited for their names to be called signaling their turn to cross the commencement stage.

Convocation 2016

School of Information Dean Andrew Dillon recognized nearly 100 graduates during the iSchool convocation on May 21.

Acting Librarian of Congress David Mao delivered the convocation address. Mao, who was appointed in October 2015, described his efforts to reorganize the Library of Congress by strengthening the institution’s management of information technology, among other major projects.

UT iSchool celebrates accomplishments of 110 graduates at convocation

Although the main commencement ceremony at the University of Texas was canceled because of severe weather on May 23, the university’s School of Information continued with their convocation festivities and proudly celebrated approximately 110 graduates.

School of Information alumnus Robert A. Walton gave the convocation address, titled “Plain Talk” at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center.

UT iSchool spring open house showcases student talent 

Graduate projects featured as part of the University of Texas School of Information’s spring open house May 8 ran the gamut of the more traditional public or school library setting to students not only testing but creating useful apps.

The open house offered the community a look at the cutting-edge work of graduate students, the ways they develop knowledge for the digital age, and how new information technologies impact the human endeavor.

Guest speaker Ambassador Sichan Siv addressed the audience with the compelling tale of his incredible journey to success - and what most would term the quintessential American dream.

iSchool Hosts Entrepreneurial Open House

The School of Information hosted a spring open house to showcase our programs, labs, activities, and facilities to the community. With the help of Entrepreneur-in-Residence Gary Hoover, we welcomed over 200 visitors from Austin and beyond. Held at the iSchool on the first evening of April, the event offered educational and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs and colleagues from Austin's technology community. The open house included tours of the school, the user experience and preservation labs, a reception, and meetings with some of the iSchool faculty and staff. 

International Bestselling Author and Former White House Official to Speak at School of Information Commencement

The School of Information (iSchool) is pleased to announce that international bestselling author and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Sichan Siv will deliver the school's May commencement address.

Born and raised in Cambodia, Siv's incredible journey to success - and what most would term the quintessential American dream - began in 1975 in Phnom Penh, where he was working for the U.S. relief agency CARE. Although the Viet Nam war had ended, the region was far from peaceful - in 1975 Pol Pot's deadly Khmer Rouge entered Cambodia and began a bloody siege.
