Description:
Develops the knowledge and skills needed to assess the basic features of computereized information retrieval systems. The primary emphasis is on text or document retrieval systems, both commercial and Web-based, however the retrieval of other media formats like graphics, audio and video is also considered. The course also examines the present efforts to create specialized digital libraries that use these retrieval approaches. (Graduate standing; credit or registration for LIS 384K.17)
