About the PERSPECTIVES talk series
Each Thursday in the Spring 2015 semester, one or more practicing information professionals, from diverse subject-areas and jobs, will come to talk with students about their careers. A primary goal of this talk series is to assist our Masters students in learning more about diverse professions in the information field and the range of career paths open to them after graduation. The talks will introduce each profession and discuss important knowledge and skills involved, both for gaining entry-level positions and in building a foundation for a long-term, successful career. The speaker may mention internship and full-time opportunities offered by their organization, and there will typically be opportunities for one-on-one interaction with the speaker after each session concludes. The talk series provides students with an unique opportunity to attend, listen, and interact with many information professionals from the greater Austin area.
Attendees are welcome to enter the room up to to 10 minutes prior to the advertised start time. Note that these talks will occur as part of a "Perspectives on Information" formal course. Consequently, if the room is filling up, please grab a chair from another room and do not take a seat away from a student who is registered for the course. It is possible there will be standing room only for some talks.
