Martha Pattillo Siv and Ambassador Sichan Siv Endowed Scholarship

September 15^th is a very special day for Ambassador Sichan Siv. In 1977, a friend introduced him to Martha Lee Pattillo, his future wife. “As soon as we met, she opened new horizons for me,” said Siv, who served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 2001-2006. “She was everything to me and simply the best.”

Amelia Acker Researches COVID Data Infrastructures

In the wake of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, thousands of open source COVID data projects were launched in an attempt to organize the chaos of information emerging about this new infectious disease. These COVID data infrastructure projects were crucial in enabling policy-makers and the public to understand the impact of the virus in communities around the world.

Texas iSchool Remains in Top Tier of U.S. News Grad School Rankings

The University of Texas at Austin School of Information ranked in the top five among colleges and schools of library and information studies in the latest U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Graduate Schools”.

The Texas iSchool retained its spot at No. 5 for the second time in a row. The iSchool has remained in the top 10 in the U.S. News rankings for over two decades, steadily rising through this elite upper tier.

iSchool Welcomes Dr. Ahmer Arif to the Faculty

Texas iSchool Launches New Undergraduate Program in Informatics

The School of Information (iSchool) at The University of Texas at Austin is pleased to announce the launch of a new undergraduate degree program in Informatics in the fall of 2021. While the iSchool has offered an undergraduate minor option in addition to its graduate degree programs in Information Studies for many years, the launch of the new Informatics program offers undergraduate students an exciting opportunity to now earn a bachelor’s degree from the school.

iSchool Well-Represented at 2020 ASIS&T Annual Meeting

Several faculty members, PhD students, and a postdoctoral researcher will be representing The University of Texas at Austin School of Information at the 2020 ASIS&T Annual Meeting, which is being held virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, from October 22^nd to November 1st. The theme of the conference is Information for a Sustainable World: Addressing Society’s Grand Challenges.
