Biography

Dr. Davis worked as an assistant in the Biola College Library, La Mirada, California and in the University of California, Berkeley Library, and as a Senior Reference Librarian and Head, Department of Special Collections, Fresno State College Library, Fresno California. He has been Editor of Libraries & Culture (formerly the Journal of Library History) since 1977. Dr. Davis�s research interests include the history of books and libraries, history of education for librarianship and information science, bibliography, and collection development. He is author of The Association of American Library Schools, 1915-1968: An Analytical History (1974) and Bibliography and Chronology of Texas Library History, 1685-2000 (2002); and co-author or editor of fourteen books, including Reference Books in the Social Sciences and Humanities (1977), ARBA Guide to Library Science Literature (1987), American Library History: A Comprehensive Guide to the Literature (1989), Encyclopedia of Library History (1994), and Dictionary of American Library Biography, Second Supplement (2003).
